Home For Christmas

This is one of my favorite Christmas sets, Home for Christmas. Here I wanted to use one of the traditional Christmas colors, red. And of course I am using Chocolate Chip since I love that ribbon (now on the Clearance Rack)!

Special Instructions:

• To run the Real Red piece of paper through the Crimper. Pierce holes for 3 Vintage Brads, wrap around and knot ribbon, then adhere to card front.
• Stamp image on the 3-1/2 x 3-1/2 piece of Whisper White (punch corners), then layer on a piece of Chocolate Chip cardstock, then layer ontop of a 3-3/4 x 3-3/4 piece of striped patterned piece from the Christmas Cocoa Specialty Paper.
• Watercolor image using markers and ink pads. Meaning, open up an Ink Pad you want to use, such as Old Olive, then you can choose various markers as well, and scribble on the open lid, and use a Blender Pen to "blend" and prep to watercolor. So, if you had the markers but not all the Classic Ink Pads, you could still watercolor with any marker.

Cold & Cuddly Holiday Card

Couldn't pass up these cuties!!! Love the penquin especially. Wanted to put a little twist using Chocolate chip and non-traditoinal holiday colors. I really like how it came out and the warmth it brings to the "cold" scene (LOL).

• Very Vanilla cardstock

Instructions

1. Created a 5-1/4 x 5-1/4 card using Soft Suede or Close to Cocoa
2. Cut a 5x5 squre of snowflake patterned paper.
3. Using Very Vanilla hand draw 2 slopes and cut out. Layer over each other at the card bottom. Then line edge with Dazzling Diamonds glitter.
4. Stamp the pole, seal, penquin, bear and iceberg on scrap Very Vanilla paper using Chocolate Chip craft ink (and then emboss with Clear Embossing Powder and Heat Gun). Cut out all image and adhere to card using Stampin' Dimensionals.
5. Stamp greeting on a striped pattern piece of paper, emboss, and cut and mat on Very Vanilla piece of paper. Adhere greeting to card front using Stampin' Dimensionals.

Good Cheer Card - Happy Christmas

This card was again part of my Holiday Card Making workshop and part of the Class Card Kit. I really like creating cards like this. Last year I created one using the Home For Christmas stamp set (click here to take a look).

Instructions

1. Create standard card using Brushed Gold, in landscape form.
2. Cut a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Chocolate Chip. Emboss the upper, left corner with the "branch-like" stamp from Good Cheer. Stamp in Chocolate Chip Craft Ink, sprinkle with Clear Embossing Powder, shake off excess powder, then heat with heat gun.
3. On the other side, emboss with Textured Impressions folder (use the Big Shot or Cuttlebug). I placed 3 gold brads in the bottom, right corner. You can wrap ribbon around and knot instead of or in addition to. Adhere piece to card front using SNAIL Adhesive.
4. Color the Santa/Reindeer image with the above mentioned Stampin' Write Markers or colors of your choice. Then stamp in 3-1/2 x 3-1/4 piece of paper. Mat it on a Chocolate Chip piece of paper 1/8 inch larger on all sides.
5. With the Real Red paper, crumble in your hand, again and again and again. Keep doing it until you get the desired distressed look. Then adhere Santa completed piece onto the red, off-centered, using Stampin' Dimensionals at least at the bottom, right side.

Serene Snowflakes

I just love this new stamp set from Stampin' Up!, featured in the Holiday Mini Catalog. I found inspiration from the card sample provided in the catalog with Bella Bleu designer series paper, but added my own twist using Chocolate Chip and heat embossing, as well as one of the felt snowflakes (now on the Clearance Rack!!!!).

Instructions

Stampin' Up! product used is bolded.

1. Cut a 4-1/2 by 11 piece of Kraft paper and then score in half.


2. Cut a 4 x 5-1/4 piece of the blue patterned paper from Bella Bleu DSP. Rub-on many white snowflakes from the Icicles rub-ons (again featured in the Holiday Mini). Then stamp a few snowflakes in Chocolate Chip Craft in (some overlapping/on top of the white snowflakes), then sprinkle with Clear Embossing Powder and heat.


3. Cut a 1-1/2 inch piece of kraft patterned paper from Bella Bleu DSP and then run the Sweet Swirls wheel in Chocolate Chip Craft ink a few times, sprinkle with Clear Embossing Powder and then heat. Add a rub-on or stamped greeting as well. I used a holiday greeting from the Chit Chat rub-on collection. Adhere this strip to the blue patterned paper.
   
4. Tie a piece of Kraft Taffeta ribbon around the panel, adhere in the back. Attach a felt snowflake with a Styled Silver piece of Hardware (brad). Then adhere the panel to the card front using SNAIL adhesive.

Bella Bleu and Wedding Sweet

I think I may have a new favorite....Wedding Sweet! Meaning, we all know that I love the Baroque Motifs stamp set, however, I really like the new Wedding Sweet stamp set and think it can be used for many occasions in many different colors. I recently create a wedding invitation sample set with this stamp set and below have a quick and easy wedding card.

Stampin' Up! Product Used

• Wedding Sweet Stamp Set
• Sweet Swirls Wheel
• Chocolate Chip cardstock, Craft Ink
• Bella Bleu Designer Series Paper
• Clear Embossing Powder
• Kraft Taffeta Ribbon
• SNAIL Adhesive

In creating this card, I used Chocolate Chip Craft Ink instead of Versa Mark to do the embossing.

1. Ink the stamp in Chocolate Chip Craft Ink.
2. Stamp on paper.
3. Sprinkel with Clear Embossing Powder.
4. Tap off excess powder.
5. Heat.

I also used this technique with the wheel - roll in Chocolate Chip Craft Ink a few times to cover the entire wheel image, then roll on designer series paper and follow instructions above.

Then assemble card and add ribbon and other desired embellishments.

Lastly, I also really like the new Bella Bleu designer series paper and will soon be posting another project using Bella Bleu and an chipboard journal.

Royal Blog Tour Featured Set (Wedding Sweet)

Although the tour is now over (and I hope you enjoyed it), my samples and featured items remain. I will soon be adding the tutorials on how to make all pieces of the wedding invitation and the Save The Date card.

Featured Stamp Set: Wedding Sweet

As promised here are the instructions on how to make the various elements of this wedding invitation set! Keep reading below each image for the instructions for each element.

This is the finished close invitation. It is embossed using the Textured Folder as well as using the Silver Embossing Powder. The paper is shiny so it's not photographing that well, but I think you may still may be able to see how beautiful the new Bridal Specialty Papers are.

Instructions

Main Invitation

1. The main invitation is created using a 5-1/4 x 12 inch piece of the new Bride Specialty Paper.
2. It is scored at 2-1/4 and 7-1/2.
3. The resulting 4-1/4 x 5-1/4 flap is then embossed using the new Elegant Bouquet Textured Folder where the front appears "indented" instead of "raised" so when you open the invitation, the inside of that flap will instead be "raised".

Name Tag

1. First cut a piece of Basic Gray cardstock 2 inches by 3-3/4 inches.
2. The names are printed on Whisper White cardstock using MS Word and my printer (color of text #333333 - dary gray). Then the tag is trimmed to be 1/8" smaller then the Basic Gray cardstock.
3. A portion of the floral image from the Wedding Sweet stamp set is then embossed in silver. Click here for instructions on how to use Heat Embossing.
4. Adhere the White and Gray pieces together using SNAIL adhesive.
5. Then adhere the tag to the front (top flap) using SNAIL adhesive.
6. Then wrap and tie a knot using White Taffeta Ribbon to seal/close the invitation.
   

This is what the invitation looks like when it is first opened. Notice the reverse embossing on the front shows beautifully on the inside (normal, raised look). I also used the same striped specialty paper on the inside, Silver Embossing Powder on the many cards that make up the invitation (Formal Invitation, Directions, Accommodations, and R.S.V.P).

Here is another view of all the individual pieces that make up the invitation - all are embossed and layered on Basic Gray cardstock (invitation details printed on Whisper White cardstock on my HP Color LaserJet Printer).

NOTE: I will be detailing each piece below, starting with the bottom most layer (the actual invitation details).

Notice I added a "Save The Date" sample as well (to coordinate with the actual wedding invitation). Image and instructions will following below...keep reading!

Here is the formal invitation up close - the bottom most (but most important) piece of the project!

Instructions

The Formal Invitation

1. First, adhere a piece of the Bride Specialty Paper (5-1/4 x 5-1/4 to the center of the inside of the invitation.
2. Then cut and adhere a 4-3/4 x 4-3/4 piece of Basic Gray cardstock on top of that.
3. Print the formal invitation details from MS Word onto Whisper White cardstock. Trim paper to 4-1/2 x 4-1/2 and adhere to Basic Gray paper.
4. Using the floral stamp from Wedding Sweet, emboss it in Silver. Click here for instructions on how to use Heat Embossing. Adhere to the Basic Gray paper.
5. The KEY here is to NOTE where you have stamped your image from the bottom (so you can use that as a marker as you stamp the other elements of the invitation (Accomodations, Directiosn, R.S.V.P). Using the Stamp-a-ma-jig would be great to help keep it aligned.

Directions

1. Cut a piece of Basic Gray cardstock 4-3/4 x 4-1/4
2. Print the directions for your guests from MS Word onto Whisper White cardstock. Trim paper to 4-1/2 x 4 and adhere to Basic Gray paper.
3. Using the floral stamp from Wedding Sweet, emboss it in Silver. Click here for instructions on how to use Heat Embossing. Adhere to the Basic Gray paper.
4. Now here is where you want to try and align the stamp from the bottom of the piece of paper using the measurement of the previously stamped image on the main invitation. This is so when all the pieces are layered inside the invitation, when it is first opened, it will line up the image of the flower.
   

Accomodations

1. Cut a piece of Basic Gray cardstock 4-3/4 x 3-3/4.
2. Print the accomodations for your guests from MS Word onto Whisper White cardstock. Trim paper to 4-1/2 x 3-1/2 and adhere to Basic Gray paper.
3. Using the floral stamp from Wedding Sweet, emboss it in Silver. Click here for instructions on how to use Heat Embossing. Adhere to the Basic Gray paper.
4. Now here is where you want to try and align the stamp from the bottom of the piece of paper using the measurement of the previously stamped image on the main invitation. This is so when all the pieces are layered inside the invitation, when it is first opened, it will line up the image of the flower.

R.S.V.P

1. Cut a piece of Basic Gray cardstock 4-3/4 x 3-1/4.
2. Print the reply card for your guests to later mail in from MS Word onto Whisper White cardstock. Trim paper to 4-1/2 x 3 and adhere to Basic Gray paper. NOTE: In this invitation I did not include a pre-stamped envelope for your guests, but that can be included as well and stamped to match. You can use the Note Card size envelopes.
3. Using the floral stamp from Wedding Sweet, emboss it in Silver. Click here for instructions on how to use Heat Embossing. Adhere to the Basic Gray paper.
4. Now here is where you want to try and align the stamp from the bottom of the piece of paper using the measurement of the previously stamped image on the main invitation. This is so when all the pieces are layered inside the invitation, when it is first opened, it will line up the image of the flower.

Here is the coordinating Save The Date card.

Instructions

1. Start with a 5-1/4 x 5-1/4 piece of the Bride Specialty Paper.
2. Then adhere a 5 x 5 piece of Basic Gray to that.
3. Print details on Whisper White cardstock (from printer using MS Word).
4. Stamp and emboss "Save The Date" greeting.
5. Stamp and emboss the floral stamp from Wedding Sweet. Click here for instructions on how to use Heat Embossing.
6. Then adhere Whisper White cardstock to Basic Gray.
   

Lastly, There's so much you can do but I tried to keep it elegant, simple, and traditional. Hope you enjoyed these samples as much as I do!

For Those Whole Like Dragonflies!

I am fortunate to be able to sell my cards at a few local gift shops, and there is a customer who has placed a few custom orders and loves dragonfly cards. I have created others in the past but forgot to take a picture of them (lol), but here are the latest two I created for them.





This card is made using the Dragonfly from Bugs & Kisses stamp set, Afternoon Tea Designer Series Paper (retired), Blush Blossom and Very Vanilla cardstock, as well as Chocolate Chip Classic Ink. Crystal Effects and Dazzling Diamonds were used on the Dragonfly (adhered to the card front using Stampin' Dimensionals).





This card was created using patterned paper from the Bella Rose Designer Series Paper, the Organic Grace stamp set (retired, Hostess Level 1 set) and is rather simple. I used Gold Embossing to give it a little something, and to compliment the Brushed Gold cardstock used.


If you like dragonflies, there will be more to come in the future since this particular customer orders regularly - wanting specifically cards with dragonflies.

Left Over Holiday Card Samples

I just wanted to share these holiday samples! I really loved them and enjoyed making them, but didn't have time to post about them all individually. However, if you have any questions or need to know how to make them, please feel free to contact me!

This is probably my favorite this year --- the beautiful holiday house seen, with a punched window and scalloped roof! Of course it was probably took the longest time to make (LOL).

I colored the stamp with different inks, then used the Versa Mark pen to highlight certain areas, such as the trim around the door, the tree, and the sled, then added Clear Embossing powder and heated. It darkened, highlighted and glossed those areas. Then I embossed the Lovely as a Tree "tree".

I punched the window with the smaller square punch and made the gray frame for the window using both punches. I also stamped the tree on the inside of the card - to show on the inside of the window!

Lastly, the roof was created with several pieces of paper, punched with the Scallop Edge punch.

This project was for a teen's group. The CD tin was purchased at Specialty Bottle, but all other product is Stampin' Up! - Frosty stampset, Bashful Blue and Chocolate Chip papers, Chocolate Taffeta Ribbon, Felt Flurries, Adhesive, Stampin' Write Markers, Stampin' Dimensionals and Dazzling Diamonds!

I can't remember where I purchased this Santa Face from several years ago, but I use it every year. This gift card holder is from Stampin' Up! - it comes pre-scored and punched to hold the card!

Again the Santa Face was used here with the Lovely As A Tree stampset, and the French Script background stamp. Sponging and embossing were also used!

This chocolate nugget box was for another kids craft class! The loved wrapping each of the cholocates with Stampin' Up!'s designer series paper, and coloring the santa card. I wrapped the bow for them (LOL).

Last but not least...this card is simply but elegant. It is done in all Chocolate Chip Craft Ink and embossed. Glitter was added to many parts of the card as well. The technique "Masking" was also used on the center panel to place the baby right above the swirled bottom of the frame. Just be careful with the Craft Ink when creating this card since so much of it was used - it can bet messy (LOL).

Reindeer Cheer

Aren't these reindeer just so cute? I had to buy this set this year since I didn't have anything like it! I'm still trying to finish posting all the fun holiday cards we made this year. Just a few more left after this one (LOL).

Stampin' Up! Product Used

• Chocolate Chip, Very Vanilla, Riding Hood Red paper
• Chocolate Chip Classic Ink
• Chocolate Chip Craft Ink
• Chit Chat Rub-ons
• Riding Hood Red and Very Vanilla stripped ribbon (from Holiday Mini Catalog)
• Clear Embossing Powder
• Heat Gun
• Watercolor Pencils
• Blender Pen
• Stampin' Dimensionals

Instructions

• Using Chocolate Chip Classic Ink, ink the Santa's Lineup jumbo wheel (roll it over the ink pad several times to be sure the wheel is covered). Then roll once across card front. Ink wheel again and roll a 2nd time to complete the card front.
• Using Chocolate Chip Craft Ink, stamp the Reindeer (from Holiday Lineup set) on the Very Vanilla piece of paper. Cover with clear embossing powder and heat with heat gun.
• Then color in the reindeer as desired using the Watercolor Pencils and blender pen.
• Adhere Vanilla paper to Riding Hood Red paper. Then adhere that panel to the cardfront using Stampin' Dimensionals (one in each corner).
• Find a holiday saying from the Chit Chat rub-ons and place greeting where desired. I put "Christmas Cheer" in the bottom, left corner area.
• Then tie the ribbon around the card front and knot in the middle. Cut edges at desired length.

Vintage Christmas

This technique I C.A.S.E.D from fellow demonstrator, Andrea Walford. I loved how she used the Carousel Note for masking!

This card is loaded with different stamps and colors but still a lot of fun to make and I think it is just a beautiful combination of colors! A very different type of card for me...but I love it!

Stampin' Up! Products Used

Instructions

1. First you cover the entire Whisper White cardstock with Sky Blue using the Brayer tool.
2. Then roll the Brayer tool in Kiwi Kiss and add a little bit of green to the background as well.
3. Then place the Carousel Note towards the left side of the card where you desire.
4. Then, use Close to Cocoa on a background stamp, I used French Script. And stamp it on the paper....where the Carousel Note is "masking" a good portion of the card (the background will not appear there).
5. Then, with the mask still in place, use Close to Cocoa and sponge around the edges of the Carousel Note.
6. Then I lifted the Carousel Note (no more mask), and stamped Baroque Motif's large swirl in Chocolate Chip ink. Also added a few of the small flowers in the set.
7. In Kiwi Kiss stamped the horizontal layout of trees from Lovely as a Tree along the bottom of the card front.
8. Then stamped the large tree in Kiwi Kiss (see image above for placement).
9. Then again stamped the large tree in Old Olive CRAFT ink. Cover with Clear Embossing Powder and heat.
10. I then stamped "Christmas" in Chocolate Chip CRAFT ink. Cover with Clear Embossing Powder and heat.
11. Then, using the small oval punch, punch a scrap piece of Whisper White. Use the brayer tool with Sky Blue and Kiwi Kiss as described above.
12. Stamp "Merry" in Chocolate Chip CRAFT ink. Cover with Clear Embossing Powder and heat. Then adhere to large oval (punched in Chocolate Chip cardstock/scrap).
13. Adhere greeting to card front using Stampin' Dimensionals.
14. Add gold ink to desired locations - I added it to the "Merry" greeting, towards the top corner, towards the bottom left corner as well.
15. Wrap sheer ribbon around the card front and tie in a knot.
16. Adhere to card using SNAIL adhesive.
17. You're done :)

Home for Christmas

We created this card at the last Holiday Card Making workshop. It is cased from one of Amy Celona's holiday cards. I really liked the torn look and wanted to do a card using it and the Home for Christmas stamp set.

What may not be apparent is the use of clear embossing. The large tree is embossed and so are some of the elements in the image (the wreathe around the door, the small tree, the sled, the lantern, and the circle wreathe on the door).

Unlike the Home for Christmas tunnel card (http://heatherporto.blogspot.com/2008/10/home-for-christams-tunnel-card.html) which was watercolored, this card uses Stampin' Write markers to "color" the stamp image. So basically nothing is colored in, everything is outlined with color instead.

What You Need:

1. Home For Christmas stamp set
2. Lovely as a Tree stamp set
3. Noble Deer stamp set (retired)
4. Kiwi Kiss, Riding Hood Red, and Whisper White card stock.
5. Tearing tool.
6. Clear Embossing Powder
7. Heat Gun
8. Stampin' Write Markers
9. Old Olive Classic Ink and Craft Ink
10. SNAIL adhesive
11. Stampin' Dimensionals
12. Versa Mark Pen
    

How to Make This Card:

1. Start with the Kiwi Kiss card. On the card front, stamp the small trees from the Noble Deer set in Old Olive. You can substitute by using the horizontal bunch of trees from the Lovely as a Tree set.
2. Stamp the large tree in Old Olive Craft ink. Cover with clear embossing powder. Shake off excess. Heat with a heat gun.
3. Use the same technique to stamp and create the greeting on Whisper White scrap paper. Then using the tearing tool, tear each side of the greeting scrap paper. Then adhere to a scrap piece of Riding Hood Red. Then tear all the edgets of the red paper (as shown in the image above) - so you have two layers of torn paper for the greeting. Set aside for now.
4. Using the desired Stampin' Write Markers, flip over the Home for Christmas main stamp (show above) and then literally color it with different colored markers -- greens for the wreathe and trees, mustard for the sled and lantern, etc.
5. When you have finished coloring the stamp, stamp on a larger scrap Whisper White piece of paper. Now using the Versa Mark pen, color over some of the image, like the wreathe around the door and small tree, lantern and sled. Then cover with clear embossing powder, shake off excess, and heat. Notice it really brings out the color and shines!
6. Then use the tearing tool to tear all the edges. Adhere to Riding Hood Red paper and again tear all the sides.
7. Adhere to the Kiwi Kiss card front.
8. Adhere the greeting now with Stampin' Dimensionals.

On Angel Wings

Many people love this card so we've done it at a few workshops. Again this card uses embossing but is relatively easy.

Cardstock: Cranberry Crisp (but could use Bravo Burgundy), Very Vanilla, Brushed Gold

Stampsets: On Angel Wings (retired hostess set)

Inks: Cranberry Crisp (or Bravo Burgundy), Gold

Other: Dazzling Diamonds, Versa Mark Pad, Embossing Buddy, Gold Embossing Powder, Heat Gun, Sponge, Blush Blossom Marker, Watercolor Crayons (Soft Subtles) or Pencils

Instructions: Use the embossing buddy and chalk where you are going to emboss. Stamp the greeting and the Angel in Versa Mark. Sprinkle gold emboss powder on the image/greeting and heat. To color the Angel I used a blender pen and the Cranberry Crisp ink, Blush Blossom marker for the flesh (face, arms, legs, feet), watercolors for hair (or you can use them for the dress and more), and Dazzling Diamonds on the wings and dove.

Solemn Stillness

This is a beautiful, but easy card to make using only 1 ink color and gold embossing. My friend Rosemary designed this card - thanks Ro! I loved it so much I did it at my workshop.

Cardstock: Bravo Burgundy, Always Artichoke, Very Vanilla.

Stampsets: Solemn Stillness

Inks: I used True Thyme but you could use Always Artichoke.

Other: Versa Mark pad, Embossing Buddy, Gold Embossing Powder, Heat Gun, Gold Ribbon

Instructions: I used a Poinsettia wheel (but you can use any stamps or just leave it plain) on the Bravo Burgundy. I stamped the tree with the True Thyme ink on the Vanilla paper. Then I used the swirl tree in Versa Mark to emboss in gold. The greeting at the bottom was also embossed in gold. The Vanilla and True Thyme cardstock are adhered and then gold ribbon is tied around it before adhering it to the Bravo Burgundy.
