Watercolor Lifting Technique: Stampin' Up! Birthday Blooms

Watercolor Lifting Technique

It's that time of the week - Saturday! And that means we have a new Technique Challenge inside Stamping And Blogging.  It is the Watercolor Lifting Technique!  I'm a featuring the Birthday Blooms stamp set from Stampin' Up! with a few new In Colors too! 

It's a multi-layered card and also features the Spotlight Technique too!!!!  The focal flower is colored in Daffodil Delight, Peekaboo Peach, Flirty Flamingo and Calypso Coral.

The background of the card is where I used the Watercolor Lifting technique.

Card Instructions

1. Stamp the floral image on Watercolor paper using StazOn ink.
2. Using the Blender Pen and inks (Daffodil Delight, Peekaboo Peach, Flirty Flamingo) brush strokes onto the Watercolor paper.
3. Quickly then use an Aqua Painter to start spreading the lines so they start to fade and bleed.
4. I then watercolored the part of the image.
5. Added Dazzling Details to the center.
6. Wrap ribbon around the focal panel.
7. Card Base is Basic Black. Vertical piece of Playful Palette on the left side.  Vertical square like piece of Peekaboo Peach that was embossed with Mosiac Textured Impressions Folder.
8. Adhere the focal watercolored panel with Stampin' Dimensionals.
9. Add some Washi Tape.
10. Stamp a greeting and then punch with Flower Punch.
11. Adhere with Stampin' Dimensionals.
12. You're done :D

Good morning stampers!  This month's technique is called Spotlight. Wait until you see the Totally Techniques Design Team in action this week --- Ah-MAZING!!!!! WOW!

Stampin' Up! Birthday Blooms

My card this week features the Birthday Blooms stamp set by Stampin' Up!  Believe it or not, this card is LOADED with different products from the Textured Impressions Folder to Washi Tape to Dazzling Details to water coloring and the SpotLight technique!

Spotlight Technique

In short, the Spotlight Technique is where you only color part(s) of a stamped image, essentially highlighting certain "spots" of your card.  There are different variations and all fun and I'm sure you'll see many today during the hop!

Quick Steps On Making This Card

• 5" Square card in Peekaboo Peach.
• Bottom 1/2 is embossed with the Lovely Lace embossing folder.
• Then a black/vanilla piece of Playful Palette DSP adhered across the center (1-3/4 x 5).
• Stamp the floral image in StazOn.
• Sponge Soft Sky around the floral image.
• Watercolor with Peekaboo Peach and Flirty Flamingo on the petals, the center is Daffodil Delight.  Then sprinkle the center with Dazzling Details.
• Adhere Washi Tape to the left side of the focal panel, two strips.
• Tear right top edge.
• Adhere focal panel to Basic Black mat.
• Tear right top edge of mat.
• Adhere focal panel using Stampin' Dimensionals.

Masking Technique: Stampin' Up! Helping Me Grow

Good morning stampers!  It's Saturday...YES! The weekend is here and it's our weekly Technique Challenge inside Stamping and Blogging.  This week it's the Masking Technique.

I'm featuring the Helping Me Grow stamp set by Stampin' Up!  And even added a little Spotlight Technique too (notice I only colored the focal image).  Enjoy!

Masking Technique

So.....I actually messed up a few times...so don't feel bad if you do!  My focal image that will be masked came out great, but the other images were not always full. It was driving me nuts! LOL.

Okay, let's get started:

1. Score and fold the card base (Whisper White).
2. Emboss the card base front with the Mosaic Textured Impressions Folder.
3. With the focal panel stamp the focal image(s) first using Basic Black (or StazOn Black if you are going to use the Aqua Painter for coloring). These are the ones you will create the mask(s) for.
4. Stamp the same image(s) on scrap paper and cut out.
5. Place over the original stamped image(s) to protect them.
6. Then using the same stamp (or other stamps), and with the mask on top of the previously stamped images, stamp your new images (Basic Black).  When you lift the mask, you’ll see the original stamped image(s) untouched and appear in the front (of all other stamped images).
7. Color the focal image (the originally stamped image) using the 3 different shades of yellow: So Saffron, Daffodil Delight, Crushed Curry.  I used a Blender Pen to color.
8. Choose a greeting of your choice and stamp in the upper right corner of focal panel (Basic Black).
9. Adhere the focal panel to the Crushed Curry designer paper with SNAIL Adhesive.
10. Adhere the focal panel to the card base using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The Spotlight Technique: Stampin' Up! Helping Me Grow

Good morning stampers!  It's Saturday...YES! The weekend is here!!! And it's our weekly Technique Challenge inside Stamping and Blogging.  It's the Spotlight Technique. 

About This Card: Spotlight Technique

Beautiful and fun.  I used water coloring as well with the Blender pen in coloring my Spotlight areas.  You can use many different types of "coloring" and tools like the Blender Pen, Aqua Painter, Daubers, markers...

1. Card Base is Whisper White (4-1/2 x 5-1/2 vertical layout). 
2. Adhere 2 x 5-1/2 piece of Bermuda Bay DSP to left side.
3. Stamp your image(s) on Whisper White with Basic Black or StazOn Black (if you're using the Aqua Painter).  Then stamp partial images on scrap white paper. Color.  And then punch out with your favorite bunches or dies. Mat them. 
4. In my card I used the Blender Pen with Cucumber Crush and Bermuda Bay.  I then punched the area I wanted to Spotlight with a circle punch; matted with Bermuda Bay paper with the larger circle.
5. Adhere all those pieces using SNAIL adhesive.
6. Adhere to focal panel with SNAIL adhesive, while you line up the color images with the black stamped images.
7. Stamp your greeting. I cut mine out using the Label-like stamp in Helping Me Grow...but you could use other greetings and ways to mat it.
8. Wrap a piece of Pool Party Glitter ribbon at the bottom, love the little sparkle!
9. Adhere your greeting.
10. Finish the card by adhering the focal panel using Stampin' Dimensionals.
